Pacific Energy Summit
NBR’s annual Pacific Energy Summit convenes leaders from government, business, and academia to explore innovative solutions to the twin challenges of energy security and climate change. By bridging the commercial, public, and nonprofit sectors, the Summit informs policy and inspires collaboration to help support sustainable economic development.
The second Pacific Energy Summit was held February 21-23, 2011 in Jakarta, Indonesia, with the theme: "Unlocking the Potential of Natural Gas in the Asia-Pacific." As a low-carbon energy resource, natural gas is well positioned to support economies in Asia as they continue to grow and develop. Over the course of the two-day Summit, participants explored the potential role of natural gas in meeting the region’s energy needs and sustainable development goals, and discussed the market mechanisms and public policies needed to turn those goals into reality.
On November 3-5, 2009 NBR launched the inaugural Pacific Energy Summit in Tokyo, Japan, with the theme: "Energy Security and Economic Growth in the Asia-Pacific: Innovations, Markets, and Smart Policies for a Low-Carbon Future." Discussions focused on developing a roadmap for action around efficient and clean energy technologies and how they might augment established global initiatives.
