With the MTV Movie Awards just around the corner, here are some reasons to watch Sunday night’s telecast:

Universal has acquired an untitled sci-fi crime thriller project from Bobby Glickert, a former assistant turned burgeoning filmmaker. Scott Stuber and Fast Five helmer Justin Lin are producing.

Glickert wrote the outline for the pitch and will direct. He'll also be a producer. The studio will search for a writer to pen the screenplay.

A new Star Trek video game will hit shelves in 2012 and some key people from the 2009 reboot are involved.

Writer-producers of the film, Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman, collaborated on the original story with God of War scribe Marianne Krawczyk, who wrote the game.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon star Shia LaBeouf says the set has changed for the better since Megan Fox was replaced by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

The reason?

Fox, he says, could never adapt to director Michael Bay's take on sexuality.

Paramount Pictures has released the first photos of The Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon villain Shockwave.

The one-eyed bad guy was featured in the TV show, but none of the prior movies.

Storyboarding has begun on the sequel to How to Train Your Dragon, which is slated to hit theaters on June 20, 2014. Offering a progress report on the feature, its writer-director Dean DeBlois said Wednesday that it is being intentionally designed as the second film in a trilogy.

The project is an adaptation of an online comic from Penny Arcade. The studio has picked up rights and tapped Book of Eli writer Gary
Whitta to pen the script. Mary Parent and Cale Boyter are producing via their studio-based Disruption Entertainment.
