Or how about Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq? Still waiting. Or proof that you value life, are pro life, but wage wars resulting in millions of deaths? I'm not brainwashed, I require actual proof, to make my own decisions. Posted on Michigan House approves massive education funding cut, critics say it 'balances the budget on the backs of our children' on May 09, 2011, 9:54AM I'm not sure why people are so surprised, when you elect a republican millionaire who sends his children to private schools, you get a business man who thinks profit is the answer to everything. Gov Snyder has made a few trips already to Grand Rapids, guess who he met with, the leaders of Steelcase, Amway, Universal Forest Products, the Chamber of Commerce. Gee, has he met with the leader of the Grand Rapids Public Schools? Has he met with parents who are concerned about how they are going to pay for college edcuation when costs have increased by 25%? No, he has not, you see, it doesn't matter, to someone like Gov Snyder and his republican friens, profit and business are it. So maybe people in our state should consider that at the polls next election. You elect a republican Gov, House and Senate, this is what you get. Posted on Gov. Rick Snyder finding some GOP resistance to school cuts on May 08, 2011, 9:20AM Just curious, does anyone know where our governor sent his children to school? Was it a public school? Or has our Governor ever met ANY teacher from a public, inner city school? Might be worth knowing what his experience with schools is. But, probably should of asked him that during the campaign. Posted on Michigan House approves massive education funding cut, critics say it 'balances the budget on the backs of our children' on May 06, 2011, 3:13PM Here is how Republican economic theory works, first it starts with the premise that everyone is equal, so Jimmy who lives in the inner city in a single parent home, whose Mom works 3 waitressing jobs, comes to school with the same motivation and skills as Bobby, whose stay at home mom, in Cascade, plans play dates at the library, has all day to stock her kitchen with food, plan healthy meals, sign her children up for after school sports and so on. Then, Republicans say, ok, those schools that perform better get more money, those that dont, well those teachers will get paid so little, they will leave and find better paying jobs, or get fired. Then some corporate business profitier will come up with some way to make money off the poor kids, maybe by allowing the parents of these inner city schools to finance their childs' private education, because, who wants to send their children to the inner city school, then the stock holders start making money and if they choose, they can make a donation of books to the school and feel important and like they have contributed to the poor. You see, its all very logical, its all about profit and some great business man will figure out how to make profit off the schools. Posted on Michigan House approves massive education funding cut, critics say it 'balances the budget on the backs of our children' on May 06, 2011, 9:29AM It's too bad that we do not value education. The bottom line is this, teachers deal with an extremely diverse group of children and need to spend one on one time, looking them in the eye, understanding their perspectives, teaching them while at the same time connecting with them on many issues other than math facts and reading. An 8 year old dealing with divorce, death, a fight with another kid. Our children need more than just some math instructor. Education is NOT efficient. Our Governer, who comes from the business world where efficiency and profit is the only measure of success, wants to make our children's learning environment more efficient and wants to reward teachers like he would a salesperson in his business. Teaching children just doesn't work that way. This massive cut in funding for education, while at the same time cutting business taxes, speaks loud and clear where our Governor's priorities lie, and no matter what he says, his priorities are NOT EDUCATION. Simple and clear, just how Republicans like it, simple. Posted on Michigan House approves massive education funding cut, critics say it 'balances the budget on the backs of our children' on May 06, 2011, 8:49AM Finally, a republican that can say it like it is. I appreciate your honesty. Posted on Michigan House approves massive education funding cut, critics say it 'balances the budget on the backs of our children' on May 05, 2011, 9:48PM Here you go Michigan, never has the difference between Democrat and Republican policy ever been so clear. Now maybe some people will wake up and see the difference, Our Republican Gov, House and Senate are approving tax cuts for corporations and reducing education funding by almost $14 Billion dollars. And they are doing this while looking you in the face and saying they care about education. Republicans value profit, anything that doesn't return a profit is a bloated, worthless, entitlement and is far down on the priority list. So, money first, children last. Good bye art class, good bye athletics, good bye small classrooms, good bye counseling, and hello video learning welcome to the world of efficiency, Republican style. Hey extra credit to those schools that can figure out how to make a profit off these kids. Posted on Michigan House approves massive education funding cut, critics say it 'balances the budget on the backs of our children' on May 05, 2011, 9:14PM If an American drops a Koran on the street and it gets dirty, people start burning flags and go crazy. So showing the blown off face of a coward and madman isn't going to incite these nut jobs? Right. I could care less if I ever see another picture of this coward again, we don't need to see anything, just like we didn't need to see our President's Birth Certificate or need to know the details of President Clinton's sex life. What is it with all these Republicans wasting sooo much effort on things that don't matter. Where were these people that demand proof, when we sent our children off to find WMD in Iraq? Now that is something that required proof. Well maybe all the birthers can focus their efforts on finding the pictures of a coward madman, instead of trying to find a solution to our economic misery. Those who voted for him, (not me), believed he would create jobs and would follow conservative republican values. Well that is exactly what you got, he is following conservative republican values, aren't they great? We deserve every ounce of change this Republican brings to us. Some day those great high paying jobs will come back, you just have to wait for it to trickle down to you, so be patient. And just remember, if you don't like what the public schools are facing, you always have the option to send your kids to a private school, just like Rick and all his CEO friends do.
Like I said, I appreciate your honesty, a republican that shows his true colors, pure selfishness and absolute no appreciation for anyone that does not have wealth. The republican party is made for people like you, its perfect. It looks like a great day at the Country Club, where our Gov and other Republicans love to hang out away from all the rif raf that has to attend public schools. For the record I send my children to private school also, so they can learn to appreciate the word of God, and serve their fellow human beings, people like you, should spend a little time concerning yourself with helping others, instead of throwing your enheritance money around.
Is that the same kind of proof that keeps saying Bush tax cuts produce jobs? still waiting for that one after 12 years. Or how about Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq? Still waiting. Or proof that you value life, are pro life, but wage wars resulting in millions of deaths? I'm not brainwashed, I require actual proof, to make my own decisions.
I'm not sure why people are so surprised, when you elect a republican millionaire who sends his children to private schools, you get a business man who thinks profit is the answer to everything.
Just curious, does anyone know where our governor sent his children to school? Was it a public school? Or has our Governor ever met ANY teacher from a public, inner city school? Might be worth knowing what his experience with schools is. But, probably should of asked him that during the campaign.
Here is how Republican economic theory works, first it starts with the premise that everyone is equal, so Jimmy who lives in the inner city in a single parent home, whose Mom works 3 waitressing jobs, comes to school with the same motivation and skills as Bobby, whose stay at home mom, in Cascade, plans play dates at the library, has all day to stock her kitchen with food, plan healthy meals, sign her children up for after school sports and so on.
It's too bad that we do not value education.
Finally, a republican that can say it like it is. I appreciate your honesty.
Here you go Michigan, never has the difference between Democrat and Republican policy ever been so clear.
If an American drops a Koran on the street and it gets dirty, people start burning flags and go crazy.
Silly Silly, its not a tax increase for the wealthy. Dont you get it? When the GOP talks about reducing taxes, they don't mean for the silly peon middle class, they are referring to the wealthy, let me clarify, those earning over $250,000. I suggest turning off Fox News, so you can gain some real insight into Right Wing, Trickle Down Economic theories and their fear tactics. Warning though, you might have to think outside of your comfort zone.
Oh the anger! The fury! Taking your good hard earned money to pay taxes to serve the losers of our society. It's almost comical how tax haters forget all the breaks they got, their education, their safety, their roads and all the middle class people that buy their goods and services. Not everyone can afford a car and if you are so upset about this huge socialist agenda, why didn't you come out in enough numbers to vote against it? Stop your whining and go support some birther movement, more worthy of your breed of intelligence.
Sage, I see you've learned your lessons on deception. Are you still asking for proof of Weapons of Mass Destruction?
I cant wait for our school systems to be transformed into a profit generating machine and stop this crazy entitlement program. I hope my daughter can benefit from "do more with less" "suck it up" and "outsource everything to save costs" In fact, let Michigan lead the charge to have the cheapest and leanest, most efficient system in the country, it could be run so efficiently, these kids could just learn to teach them selves over the Internet with resources made in India. Keep the "Business" out of schools, we are being brainwashed into thinking that an education system should be run like a McDonalds. At what point do we decide that education is an investment and warrants our tax dollars, yes, tax dollars actually can do some good.
