Lollapalooza headliners: Coldplay, My Morning Jacket, Deadmau5, A Perfect Circle, Eminem, Foo Fighters, Muse

Photos: Lolla lineup

Coldplay, My Morning Jacket, Deadmau5 and A Perfect Circle will join previously reported headliners Eminem, Foo Fighters and Muse at Lollapalooza on Aug. 5-7 in Grant Park, the festival will announce Tuesday.

Also among the artists to be announced by Texas-based promoters C3 Presents are Cee Lo Green, Damian Marley with Nas, the Cars, Ween, Bright Eyes, Big Audio Dynamite, Girl Talk, Titus Andronicus, Deftones, Kid Cudi, Sleigh Bells and Arctic Monkeys.

The seventh annual festival will again feature more than 130 performers on eight stages.

As usual, the festival has only a smattering of hip-hop and world-music artists, though a handful of Chilean bands – Chico Trujillo, Los Bunkers and Ana Tijoux – have been booked as part of a cultural exchange with Lollapalooza Chile, which debuted April 2-3 in Santiago.

But Lollapalooza 2011 will once again raise the profile of electronic artists, as affirmed by the headlining status of Deadmau5 (Toronto progressive-house star Joel Zimmerman) and a significantly larger presence for the Perry’s Lounge DJ stage, which will now be able to accommodate more than 15,000 fans in its new location west of Columbus Avenue on Hutchinson Field. The stage’s namesake, Lollapalooza cofounder Perry Farrell, will be among the artists, performing under the name PerryEtty vs. Chris Cox.

Three-day tickets ($215) are available at lollapalooza.com. Single-day tickets will go on sale June 7. Dates and times of the performances will be announced at a later date.

Here’s the complete lineup that will be announced Tuesday (with a few later additions expected for the Kidsapalooza stage, which will bring the total number of acts to 136, according to C3 Presents executive Charles Attal):

Ugh... At least I won't have any conflicts with the headliners this year.

Happy to see locals DISAPPEARS on the bill!

This line-up sucks. The only 2 worth seeing would be MMJ & Foo Fighters. Eminem, Coldplay & Muse should go play Summerfest. D-bags!

good ==== b2b jordans c o m

Sure, we're all sick of seeing Muse headlining, Foo Fighters just aren't headlining material here, Eminem is the token big time Rapper, and if you have a problem with Coldplay then skip it. But beyond that, this lineup is unbelievable: Deadmau5, MMJ, Arctic Monkeys, Bright Eyes, Girl Talk, Ratatat, Cage the Elephant, Smith Westerns, The Kills, Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Portugal the Man, Bloody Beatroots, etc, etc. If your not excited by that then stay home or find another festival. Surely this will sell out and those who are there will have an unbelievable experience.

YAAWWWNN! Girl Talk, live? wow. Is there a less interesting act than the Foo Fighters? Same bad arena rock anthems record after record. They're Bon Jovi for the 21st Century.

Go to Summerfest in Milawaukee, it is one hundred million times better !!!!! Get a hotel room and enjoy the city nightlife and the fest.

Check out the lineup on summerfest dot com.

Am I the only person who never heard of any of them?

The Cars?

How cutting edge.

Some Very good bands this year. Should be aot of fun.

I am sure we will get the few "I wont go there because some of the bands have sold more than 10 Records" people on here but most people can appreciate the music and bands involved.

Wow. Soccer Mom Fest 2011. I've never seen a more vanilla lineup.

Greg - any idea when Lolla sold out 3-days last year? Think those will go faster this year?

Greg replies: They actually didn't sell out last year. Sold about 80,000 tix/day. Have capacity for 95,000.

So much for alt festival, this looks a lot more like one of the touring pop shows from the 50's to me.

Now there is a suprise. People look at a FEW headliners and whine because they have sold some albums. My guess is they dont know too much about Music or.... they have to be "Cool". I have also known of a couple of Milwaukee Fest employees coming on here to rip the Great fest. Nice huh?

I Just Love how people will come here every year and post the same things. It`s like the Highlight of their year to rip Lolla. You have people that will not like 1 band like the Cars for instance and thats basically their post. "Wow nice lineup, the Cars". Sheeesh.

Greg, I just want to say thanks for always keeping us informed about the music that hits this Great City! Seriously, It does not matter if it`s pop,Rock,R&B,Blues etc etc.

It's SOOOO hip right now to complain about rock fests

Just lemmie know who's playing at the Hideout that weekend.

Amazing lineup! Eminem, Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Crystal Castles, Christnina Perri!!! So much good music is going to be there. I don't know why everyone feels the need to bash Lollapalooza, probably because they have nothing better to do with their miserable hipster lives. Some of us are thankful to get an opportunity to see so many great artists in one place.

Chico Trujillo !! The Sudamerica "Cumbia" Powerrrr!!

Is this where people post about how their music taste is better than everyone else's because they can name-drop cr*ppy bands that nobody cares about?

I'd mention which band I'm excited to see this year, but you've probably never heard of them.

I admit I was hoping for the Cure and was a little thrown off by the whole 20th anniversary thing, but the more I look at this, the more I see stuff I'm interested in checking out. Foster the People, Joy Formidable, Crystal Castles, Cars, BAD and Explosions in the Sky leading the way right now.

I bought my VIP tickets with the expectation that the 20 year anniversary was going to be something HUGE! KOL, The Killers, Jane's Addiction, and to mark the 20th anniversary of "10", the one and only Pearl Jam. That's what I was thinking... What I got is Eminem, Cold Play, and Foo Fighters.

We had Radiohead here 3 years ago!?!?!? No Beasties??? At the very least I thought we would see RATM, Green Day, Soundgarden, and Arcade Fire.

Although there are still some great bands on the undercard, the headliners, especially for a 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY, are lackluster at best.

I'm not rich. I worked long and hard for these VIP tickets saving for months to get the $$$ to buy them. It's quite a letdown to say the least.

I'd rather go to the Friends of Mine Festival in England!

Should be more sheep in Grant Park than in New Zealand.
