It was for moments like this that the Orioles caved in and decided to meet free agent Vladimir Guerrero's asking price late in the offseason when no other suitors for the designated hitter had emerged. His team shut out and held to one hit through six innings by Washington Nationals starter Jordan Zimmerman, Guerrero launched a go-ahead two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning, powering the Orioles to a 2-1 victory and a series win at Camden Yards. Guerrero lined Zimmerman's 0-2 curveball about four rows up into the left-field seats. Koji Uehara pitched a perfect eighth inning, and Kevin Gregg (above with catcher Matt Wieters) converted his eighth save with a scoreless ninth as the Orioles (21-24) won two out of three in the Beltway Series.
