Allman Brothers cancel Crossroads appearance
The Allman Brothers announced Wednesday they must cancel their appearance Saturday at the Crossroads Guitar Festival in Toyota Park after keyboardist-singer Gregg Allman underwent surgery.
Allman, who suffers from Hepatitis C, underwent a liver transplant Wednesday at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla. The singer had been on the waiting list for the transplant, which had been recommended by doctors after they began treating him for liver disease in 2007.

“I feel pretty good, considering everything that’s happened,” Allman said in a statement from the band. "I changed my ways years ago but we can't turn back time. Every day is a gift, and I can't wait to get back on the road making music with my friends."
The Allmans spot in the lineup will be filled by the Derek Trucks Band with Susan Tedeschi, according to promoters Jam Productions.
