Program-level activities

The NanoNed TA program includes discussions and workshops with regular NanoNed participants. The PhD students and postdocs working on the research projects, together with senior staff from the participating universities, have regular meetings. Other scholars studying nano and society and TA-actors can participate in these meetings.

Support packages for Nano PhD students

PhD students and postdocs in NanoNed are stimulated to to spend two or three months studying broader aspects of their projects, or issues ranging from philosophy of nanoscience and technology, science policy, to citizen participation and ethical issues, and write this up as a chapter in their PhD thesis or a journal article. Support packages will be available to support such studies.

Collaboration and internationalization

NanoNed TA has strong collaborative links with TA bodies active in this field, like the Dutch Rathenau Institute, and with colleagues and centres in other countries in Europe and elsewhere. NanoNed TA is one of the leading members of the International Nanotechnology & Society Network, together with University of Lancaster (UK) and the two NSF-funded Nanotechnology in Society Centers in the USA. There is also active participation in EU Networks of Excellence, such as Nano2Life, Frontiers and PRIME.
