Grieving friends and family members of four people found dead at their San Diego home early Tuesday said they were stunned by the deaths and were not aware of any family problems.
Friends and relatives identified the victims as Alfredo and Georgina Pimienta and their two dauthers, Priscilla, 17, and Emily 7.
Three of the victims were found in the home's swimming pool and another was discovered in a bathtub inside, police said. All had drowned.
It is unclear how they drowned, police said. Homicide detectives were on the scene.
Police discovered the bodies after responding to a call about 6:40 a.m. that there had been a death at the home in the Skyline neighborhood.
"Everything seemed to be fine with the family," said Georgina's stepfather, Jose Villa, whose wife fell into his arms crying when they arrived at the scene.
"She was a hard-working and loving mother," he said of his stepdaughter.
Alex Jasmund, 17, a senior at High Tech High School in San Diego, said he was best friends with Priscilla. He said they went to the movies Monday afternoon to see "Priest." He said they came back to the house where they joined other students at a pool party to plan for their senior prom.
"Nothing seemed wrong," said Jasmun, whose father brought him to the neighborhood Tuesday. "How did this happen? And why did this happen?"
Neighbor Marlon Soriano, 22, said the last time saw he saw the family was Sunday afternoon. He said the little girl could often be seen riding her bike in the neighborhood with other kids.
"They seemed like a real close family," Soriano said. "There was no indication that anything was going wrong."
