New center brings inpatient hospice care to Howard County

Inpatient hospice center is county's first

Many Howard County families whose loved ones have greater pain management needs than a home hospice setting can handle have traveled out of the county for inpatient end-of-life care. On Monday, Gilchrist Center Howard County will open in Columbia as the first such facility in the county. Above, Cathy Hamel, Executive Director/COO of Gilchrist Hospice Care is shown one of 10 inpatient care rooms at the new center.
