POLL: Should smoking be banned in restaurants, bars and offices?

The Center for Disease Control predicts that within the next decade, every state will have a ban on smoking in restaurants, bars and in the workplace. What do you think?

  • That would be good. Second-hand smoke is a significant health issue, and the ban is supported by the majority of people.
  • That would be bad. Individual businesses should be able to make their own rules about smoking. It's not the state's business.
  • It's not enough. They should ban smoking altogether and get that nasty, unhealthy habit out of our lives.
  • Doesn't matter to me. They can ban smoking wherever they want, but I'll still smoke whenever and wherever I want.

POLL: What does it mean that Michael Vick could be on the cover of "Madden 12?"

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, just a few years removed from federal prison on dogfighting charges that made him a pariah, is now on the verge of winning the nationwide fan voting at espn.com to choose the player who will appear on the cover of the Madden 12 video game. What do you think this means?

  • It means that fans have forgiven Vick for his crimes. They believe he has turned his life around and that he deserves a fresh start.
  • It means that if you're a good enough athlete, people will let you get away with pretty much anything, no matter how disgusting.
  • It's an unscientific method, obviously, so it means that Vick's fans are stuffing the ballot box. You can't really read too much into it.
  • Vick has always been a popular choice for Madden players. The voting means they are voting for his computer image in the game, not for the man himself.
  • I'm pretty sure it has something to do with a handbasket.

POLL: Got your federal income taxes done yet?

Have you got your taxes done yet?

It's April 15 - the traditional deadline for filing your federal income taxes. You have a break this year - the feds have changed the deadline to April 18.

  • Yes. I always get them done early, just to get that task out of the way.
  • No. I always wait until the last minute.
  • What??? It's April 15? Well, I guess I'd better find my W-2 and get started.
  • I'll pay my taxes this year when General Electric pays its taxes.
  • I don't believe the federal income tax is Constitutional, so I refuse to pay as an act of civil disobedience.

POLL: Should federal prosecutors go after Barry Bonds again? PROBABLY NOT

Retired baseball star Barry Bonds was convicted on one federal count of obstruction, but a hung jury led to a mistrial on three counts of perjury when the jury could not reach a verdict. Should federal prosecutors refile the perjury charges and take another shot at convicting him?

  • Yes. They shouldn't stop until they nail him to the wall. (23 responses)

    22.1%

  • No. They got one conviction, and that's enough. It's not like he got acquitted, and it's time to let this go. (21 responses)

    20.2%

  • Probably not. They've spent enough time and money. He's a ballplayer who used steroids, not a murderer. (48 responses)

    46.2%

  • If they have some sort of new evidence that makes them believe they can get a conviction, then they should try, but there's no sense in presenting the same evidence again. (12 responses)

    11.5%

POLL: Should the U.S. celebrate Yuri Gagarin's space flight?

Today marks the 50th anniversary of Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin's space flight, which made him the first person to orbit the Earth. "Yuri's Night" is being celebrated in Russia, in the U.S., and around the world, including a "World Space Party" at the Virginia Air & Space Museum this weekend. Click here to see pictures from the celebration so far.

Do you think that it's appropriate for the United States to celebrate the accomplishments of the Soviet space program?

  • Yes. Yuri Gagarin's flight was an accomplishment for the whole human race, and he was an ambassador to all nations.
  • No. The Soviets were our enemies, and Gagarin's flight was a victory for communism. It's not something the U.S. should celebrate.
  • Not sure. It was a great achievement, but has all of this space exploration truly been worth the money our nations have spent on it?
  • I like to celebrate. Any excuse for a party is OK by me.
