There is a common theme among Edmonton’s ethnic bakeries. The products they craft can be seen as metaphors for the immigrant experience, years of long hours and hard work tucked into a Chinese egg tart, a crusty round loaf of Italian pagnotta — or in the case of La Monarca, a creamy Tres Leches.

Soup Sisters is a non-profit organization which began in Calgary a couple of years back. They make soup for various worthy causes. The organization is launched in Edmonton on April 14 2011. About 40 people gathered to chop and dice and make litres and litres of soup which will be delivered to WIN House, the partner agency with this new group.
