Discovery of Barnes' body could yield new leads

Phylicia Barnes' body found in river

The months-long search for high school student Phylicia Barnes came to an end Thursday, when an autopsy determined a body found in the Susquehanna River was that of the North Carolina honors student. The 17-year-old disappeared Dec. 28 from her half-sister's apartment in Northwest Baltimore, and city police launched its most extensive missing person investigation in years. Above, Barnes' body was found near Conowingo Dam, seen here in 2005. The dam is about 40 miles northeast of Baltimore.

Orioles fall to Twins, 3-1

Starting pitcher Jeremy Guthrie, right, turned in another strong outing Thursday, surrendering just two runs in seven innings — a performance plenty good enough to win on many nights. The offense, however, couldn't solve Twins starter Scott Baker, who shut out the Orioles for seven innings as Minnesota went on to win, 3-1, at Camden Yards. The Orioles and Twins split the four-game series.
