The Syrian army has seized control of a mosque which had become a centre for anti-government protests in the southern city of Deraa, according to unconfirmed reports.

At least six people are said to have died when soldiers stormed the Omari mosque in the city centre in an assault supported by tanks.

Matthew Price reports from the Jordanian-Syrian border.
