Device found close to van in Maghera was 'viable'

Police have said a device found close to a van in Maghera, County Londonderry, on Friday morning had partially exploded.

The owner of the vehicle discovered the object in the Willow Glynn area shortly after 0800 BST.

It is believed the device, described by police as an incendiary, partially exploded at around 0300 BST.

It has been removed and is being examined by army experts. Police have appeared for information.
