Rahm Emanuel names arts figures to aid with transition
Rahm Emanuel, the mayor-elect of Chicago, released on Thursday the names of the arts figures (and funders) who will provide advice to the incoming administration on "enhancing the city's art and culture."
The art-and-culture committee is one of six groups of advisors tapped by the Emanuel team to provide counsel on different areas of city government.
Members of the art-and-culture team are: Lane Alexander of the Chicago Human Rhythm Project, Michelle Boone of the Joyce Foundation, David Chavez of Sound Culture, Antonia Contro of Marwen, consultants Helen Doria and Marj Halperin, Cheryl Hughes of the Chicago Community Trust, Mary Ittelson of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Ra Joy of the Illinois Arts Alliance, Eileen LaCario of Broadway in Chicago, Josephine Lee of the Chicago Children's Choir, Phillip Thomas of the eta Creative Arts Foundation and Angel Ysaguirre of the Boeing Corp.
In an interview with the Tribune last week, Emanuel said that Halperin was coordinating the work of the committee.
