WINDSOR, Ont. -- The Windsor Assembly Plant will be building the new 2012 Ram Truck Cargo Van, Chrysler Group announced Tuesday.
Targeting the commercial vehicle market, the Ram Cargo Van is engineered to meet business and commercial needs, Chrysler said.
“We see growth in the Class 1 light commercial vehicle market,” said Fred Diaz, president and CEO – Ram Truck brand. “With its class-leading capability and a lower total cost of ownership, the highly versatile Ram Cargo Van is a great vehicle choice for small businesses and commercial fleets.”
The Ram C/V, which replaces the Dodge Grand Caravan C/V, will go on sale in the third quarter of 2011. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
The Ram C/V offers “best-in-class” cargo space, handling up to 1,800 cargo payload and up to 3,600 pounds of towing capability, Chrysler said.
It also comes with the new 3.6-litre Pentastar V-6 engine and solid sliding doors, solid side panel, flat load trailer, as well as commercial-tuned ride and heavy-duty, load-levelling suspension for maximum payload capability.
Standard features include, electronic stability control, commercial load-tuned tire-pressure monitoring, four-wheel anti-lock disc brake system and command-of-the road seating.
Ram Cargo Van options include an engine block heater, media centre with a 30-gigabyte hard drive and 6.5-inch touch-screen display, audio jack input for mobile devices, Garmin navigation system and Parkview backup camera.
