10:01 AM ET 01.29 | While discussing on Thursday why he signed with the St. Louis Cardinals, Lance Berkman found a way to take a couple shots at the Rangers. The outfielder told 1560 AM in Houston that the Rangers would be "an average team" in 2011. He also questioned the signing of Adrian Beltre. Rangers pitcher C.J. Wilson responded to those comments on The Ben & Skin Show on ESPN 103.3 FM on Friday. "I think it's funny," said Wilson. "He was contemplating retirement, so I'm not going to take anything too seriously. I'm not going to get offended by anything he says. If that's a representative idea of what people around the league think, that's better for us because they're going to do the same thing and they're going to not take us seriously. If we end up stomping through the playoffs again, everyone will be like, 'Wow, what a bummer.' " Berkman said he felt like if the Rangers didn't re-sign Cliff Lee that they were going to be an average team.

09:31 AM ET 01.29 | Mike D'Antoni shot back at TNT's Charles Barkley for saying Thursday night the Knicks can't win a title because they lack the fundamentals of defense and rebounding. "Charles, that's what he does for a living," D'Antoni said before last night's 111-102 loss to the Hawks, in which Atlanta had a 60-43 lead at halftime and led by as many as 24 before the Knicks rallied. "Up until we win [a championship], he's right. Our job is to make him be wrong. It won't be the first time he's wrong. He's paid to make opinions and he's good at it. "He's always been that way," D'Antoni added. "We won 62 games. He was the first one to say we don't make the playoffs. So he's been wrong all the way so he's gotten to a point where he's right. It's fun to try to prove him wrong."

League sources say Senators GM Bryan Murray is trying to move Gonchar, who was Ottawa's biggest free-agent signing last off-season. While the names of defenceman Chris Phillips and winger Jarkko Ruutu have been bandied about on the trade market for months, Gonchar's availability has only just surfaced and comes as a bit of a surprise.

10:23 AM ET 01.29 | It was reported Friday morning Nick Dasovic is done at Toronto FC. QMI Agency has since learned that the situation is not resolved. Dasovic was offered a significantly inferior role with the club by management, and such a demotion wasn't well received by the former Canadian International, who has been with TFC since 2008. Dasovic would have been happy in a first-team coaching role or with the reserves, but such a position was not offered.
