After a mixed weekend, it’s time for Plan B
Well, what an interesting few days. For most people a weekend trip to Edinburgh is a relaxing, enjoyable break away. For us it was a decidedly mixed bag. (more…)

After a break in the middle of the campaign, it’s always good to go back into camp and see some familiar faces. This week we had the addition of the ladies’ favourite, Mr Tommy Bowe. It’s great to see him back in the mix, especially after his lay-off with injury. (more…)
Another week and hopefully another game. One thing we’ve all learned is that you never know what Deccie (Declan Kidney) is going to do with team selection, although it’s always good to see familiar faces when we get back into camp after a weekend off. (more…)
Writing this from the comfort of my bed – something that most guys in the squad cherish and look forward to during the Six Nations. Hotel life is not what people think. While the places we stay are amazing and all the staff in the hotels equally so (along with the food…) nothing is a substitute for home and this week the squad have spent most of it at home, besides the two day camp. A timely break and a chance for the lads to refresh the body and mind after a tough two weeks. (more…)
As I reflect on yesterday this morning, I can’t help but think it was a game that slipped through our fingers. A game we lost rather than France won – that’s what makes it so hard to take. Three tries to one, and they still win it. We’re going to have to look at the video on our week off now and see what turnovers and penalties were in our control and what can be done to rectify them. (more…)
The tail end of the week has been nice and easy. Two short sessions and a few meetings done. Just waiting for the game now. Doesn’t help sitting in the team room watching the games with the lads. Just want to get out there and play. (more…)
The last few days have been like the start of a new season for me. I’m back into the mix in training and it seems like ages since I’ve been involved with squad training sessions properly. It’s somewhat of a novelty but it can be somewhat tiresome; just like training at the start of the year. That said, it has been fun. (more…)
I have decided to write this update in the same frame of mind as the man at the heart of Irish camp goes about his business. He has me writing this while sitting in one of his loungers and listening to the soundtrack of The Godfather. (more…)
Well, it’s unusual to be this side of the pen/keyboard, treading in dark uncharted waters and leaving myself open to attack from within the Ireland camp. Mind you, I’m more than likely going to do something like tell Snow Patrol that we’re okay for a private gig again! Ye know what, I’ll give it a go anyway! It’ll be sink or swim! (more…)
