Justin Bieber Songs Don't Drum Up 'Glee' Ratings; Show Still Wins Key Demo (Video)
CBS and Fox tied for the night with those 18-49.
CBS and Fox tied for the night among the ad-targeted 18-49 demographic averaging a 3.0 rating each, while CBS pulled in the most total viewers with 15.9 million compared to Fox’s 7.5 million. But both networks saw across-the-board declines for their lineups.
CBS’ NCIS (3.7, 19.4 million), NCIS: Los Angeles (3.3, 16.8 million) and The Good Wife (2.2, 11.4 million) were all down week-to-week. NCIS, which was second in the 8 p.m. time slot behind Glee, was down 12% for a season low and The Good Wife was down 9% to tie its series low.
Fox’s Glee (4.2, 10.4 million) was down 9%, although it was still the highest-rated program of the night in the 18-49 and 18-34 demos. A weaker lead-in meant the network’s Tuesday comedy block saw double-digit declines; Raising Hope (2.2, 5.5 million) was down 19% week-to-week. In its second episode, new sitcom Traffic Light (1.5, 3.5 million) fell precipitously from its Raising Hope lead-in and was down 21% week-to-week.
NBC was third for the night averaging a 2.5 rating in the demo and 7.5 million viewers with The Biggest Loser: Couples (2.7, 7.7 million) and Parenthood (1.9, 5 million). ABC limped in at fourth with a 1.5 rating in the demo (tied with Univision for the night on that measure) and 5.2 million viewers overall with No Ordinary Family (1.5, 5.0 million), V (1.9, 5.3 million) and Detroit 1-8-7 (1.2, 5.2 million).
The CW averaged a 0.8 rating with 1.6 million viewers overall with One Tree Hill and Hellcats. Both shows were flat week-to-week in the network’s target demo of 18-34-year-olds while One Tree Hill was up 13% in the 18-49 demo.
