The Hollywood Reporter got Oscar weekend off to a big start on Thursday night.

Oscar weekend 2011 kicked off with Hollywood’s biggest power players celebrating this year’s nominees with His Honor, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, at the Hollywood Reporter’s annual Academy Awards fete, held Thursday evening at the Getty House.

Industry heavyweights and Oscar hopefuls including David O. Russell, Amy Adams, Tom Hooper, Sharon Stone, Mila Kunis and Piers Morgan were among the 400 guests to celebrate this year’s incredible roster of Academy Award nominees alongside hosts Janice Min, THR’s Editorial Director, and Bruce Cohen, producer of this year’s Oscars telecast.

After hitting the (black!) red carpet for press interviews and photos, guests gathered inside a giant warmly lit white tent on the grounds of the Mayor’s historic 1920’s residence.

Inside, showbiz execs like Fox Seachlight’s Nancy Utley, Disney’s Rich Ross and Sony Pictures Classics Michael Barker also joined in the fun, which kicked off with a welcome by Min, flanked by THR publisher Lori Burgess, who thanked event sponsors L’Oreal Paris and Tommy Hilfiger, the Mayor — he joked that his “house” is really “all of ours” -- and especially the nominees for coming. (Burgess and True Grit Supporting Actress nominee Hailee Steinfeld each wore white Hilfiger frocks for the occasion.)

The menu, custom-created by James Beard Award winner chef Suzann Goin and her restaurant Lucques, featured – among other delicacies -- roasted beets with chickpea puree, lamb meatballs, seasonal oysters and chocolate pot de crème. D.J. Ruckus masterminded the music lineup, which featured old-school jams and Motown hits, and kept guests in the spirits until 10 p.m.
