Farm Aid sets Oct. 2 Milwaukee date, South by Southwest open for 2011 registration
Two musical institutions – Farm Aid and the South by Southwest Music and Media Conference -- announced plans for their 25th year Monday.
Farm Aid, designed to benefit family farmers, said its 25th anniversary concert will be held Oct. 2 at Miller Park in Milwaukee.
Tickets ($39.50 to $97.50) go on sale at 9 a.m. Aug. 14 at the Milwaukee Brewers box office, by phone at 414-902-4000 or online at www.tickets.com. Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews will host the event and the rest of the lineup will be announced in the next few weeks.
Also Monday, South by Southwest opened registration for its 25th annual conference, March 16-20, 2011 in Austin, Texas.
The country’s premier music conference draws more than 12,000 industry representatives and fans, 2,000 media members and 1,000 bands annually. To register, go to sxsw.com. Bands who wish to apply for a showcase should visit Sonicbids.com.
