Top (holiday) weekend shows: Thermals, Disappears, Rush
Thermals and Disappears: Portland indie rockers the Thermals headline, and they’ll deliver a high-energy set. But be sure to show up on time so you can catch openers and hometown rockers Disappears, whose debut album, “Lux,” is a fierce and expansive guitar-rock document, 6:30 p.m. Monday at Pritzker Pavilion, Millennium Park. Free; millenniumpark.org.
Rush: The Toronto trio, which brought progressive ambition to heavy metal in the ‘70s and beyond, is still going strong. Their typically epic set will blend new and old, with a section of the show devoted to their 1981 4-million-seller “Moving Pictures,” 7:30 p.m. Monday at Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island, $49.50, $89.50, $134.50; ticketmaster.com.
