North Carolina wants you to stop

North Carolina is trying to entice vistors to stay a little longer and not rush through the state on their way south.

Introduced two years ago by Merit Travel Group, one-month stays are available at the Sea Trail Golf Resort condos, on the state's southernmost strech of coast, including return airfare Montreal-Raleigh, car rental for 30 days and 29 nights accommodation in a one-bedroom condo unit from $1,540 Canadian per person, double occupancy, plus taxes.

The price shown is valid for departures between Dec. 1 and Feb. 1. For departures between March 1 and April 1, the price is $1,640 per person, double occupancy. Additional taxes on air and accommodation are $180 per person and $350 U.S. paid locally for car rental fees. For details, contact Merit Travel Group at 866-885-8846.

Wilmington and Cape Fear offer uncrowded beaches, golf resorts where you can play 365 days of the year, and a mild winter. Wilmington, riverfront town, is home to North Carolina's largest historic district, Battleship North Carolina, the annual North Carolina Azalea Festival, shops and theatres.

A highlight of the area is North Carolina's southernmost cape island, Bald Head Island, with 4,000 hectares of nature reserves.
