Michelle Pfeiffer is in negotiations to reteam with Tim Burton for Dark Shadows, Warner Bros’ big-screen take on the 1960s gothic vampire TV soap opera starring Johnny Depp.

FilmDistrict will release Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, picking up the U.S. rights and setting an August 12 opening for the Guillermo del Toro-produced horror thriller

The movie was one of the titles that found itself adrift when Disney shut down its Miramax label. Del Toro and the movie made a strong appearance at Comic-Con last year and it was last scheduled for a January release when it fell into limbo.

ARC Entertainment has teamed up with XLrator Media to pick up the U.S. distribution rights to John Carpenter's horror thriller The Ward.

The pic premiered at last year's Toronto Film Festival and the move finally gives it a chance to be seen by American audiences.

No specific details of the release strategy was given although many platforms will be involved.
