Cooperative Extension has historic roots in agriculture and the environment from helping commercial farmers and growers (through Agricultural Extension Agents) to home lawn and garden enthusiasts. Extension has knowledge and expertise to share.
Agriculture and horticulture are areas of interest to many in Monongalia County, and one of the most common reasons for a call to the Extension Service. We are here to help. If you need assistance with your home, farm or garden, call us! We can help you identify and deal with most common agricultural and horticultural problems.

Reduce water use with a rain barrel, and support the Friends of Deckers Creek Association (FDOC)
FODC is a nonprofit watershed group dedicated to promoting, preserving, enhancing, and restoring the natural qualities of
the Deckers Creek watershed for the residents and visitors of Monongalia and Preston Counties, West Virginia. They are committed to cleaning up the creek degraded by multi-source pollution sources such as acid mine drainage, heavy metals, litter, and bacteria, with a goal of “Fish by 2010, swim by 2015”. The FODC Youth Advisory Board is a group of local youth ages 12-18 helping FODC fulfill its mission through youth-led service projects and research.
The rain barrels are being sold for $75, which is considerably less than the cost of a rain barrel at retail stores or found online. All proceeds will benefit FODC and the FODC Youth Advisory Board. Please contact FODC at 304-292-3970 or info@deckerscreek.org for more information or to order a rain barrel.
