The government has accepted family and estate papers of the Lyttelton family of Hagley Hall, Worcestershire, in lieu of tax.

The collection consists of family and estate papers from the 17th to the 20th century. It includes accounts, correspondence, diaries, rentals, royal appointments to public offices, architectural plans and personal papers of the Lyttelton family, Viscounts Cobham. Among the material is a letter book of the 1st Baron Lyttelton while serving as Governor of Jamaica; the papers of the 4th Baron Lyttelton concerning Canterbury in New Zealand; and plans of Hagley Hall by architect Sanderson Miller (1716-80).

Any library, record office or similar institution in the United Kingdom interested in being allocated the papers should contact:
