I think that raising the drinking age has taught teens to abuse alcohol. If teens could go to a bar, have a beer, and be around adults to know how to drink the right way, we wouldn't have so many problems. This country has alot of issues.

Well I'd advise you not to make a decision on this important policy matter based a few anonymous comments here online. Read through the study and the other research presented here and elsewhere on the site to get a more developed opinion on the matter.

It would be nice to actually get some good opinions on this, not just 12, 14 and 16 year olds looking to get a beer. And the junk posted doesn't necessarily help your cause by showing you as mature young adults to drink. - Age 19

After reading the above comments...those are EXACTLY why the drinking age is 21. Because of stupid immature little teenagers. Give them alcohol legally and it will make them even more stupid.

This country is based on hipocrisy and the drinking highlights yet another one of nations many flaws. At 18, I find myself drinking quite responsibly for a college freshman. I think the coming of adulthood should bear all the benefits and burdens. Implementing an arbitrary number is an insult to our rights as adults and citizens with the power to smoke, vote, go to war, and serve on a jury.

If a teenager can get their hunting license, drivers license, fight for their country, and work, then why can't they drink. I think that the drinking age should be lowered if not to 18 then to 19. How says it has to be either 18 or 21 anyways? But I think people are going to abuse alcohol more if they cant get to it. If someone goes to a party where theirs a lot of alcohol then their going to take advantage of that because they can't normally do that. Also not being able to drink it makes it more enticing anyways. Teenagers just need to be more aware of the seriousness of drinking and driving. However, I think that people assume the worst. I've been to alot of parties with a lot of different people and we all know better than to drink and drive. I've had my keys taken away from me as soon as I walked in the door at some parties. I've been to quite a bit where there's a designated driver to take you home or where ever you want to go if you don't want to spend the night. Besides that I think that they're more responsible than you think. However, people are going to drink whether you give them permission or not, so don't tell them that they can't do something because they'll go out and do in spite of something. That's why I think the drinking age should be lowered. What if it was lowered to 19 even? That way their out of high school. Because the only thing I would be worried about lowering the drinking age to 18 is that they would slack off their last year of high school. Although most of them do it anyways.

you got to think about this 15,16,17 year olds are usein tobacco products right now cuz they get told they cant!18,19,and 20 year olds are drinkin cuz they get told they cant you got to think though at the age of 18 you can start goin to the clubs and if you think minors aint drinkin at the clubs your full of crap cuz they are so if you can go to the clubs and can go to war and die for your country why the hell cant you drink a beer b4 you die and plus statistics show 95% of all drunk drivers and wrecks are people 21 and over so wat the hell is goin to hurt
