Brand Nubian is a hip hop group from New Rochelle, New York, consisting of three rappers: Grand Puba (born Maxwell Dixon, March 4, 1966), Sadat X (formerly Derek X, born Derek Murphy) and Lord Jamar (born Lorenzo Dechalus, on September 17, 1968), and two DJs: DJ Alamo and DJ Sincere. Their debut album One For All is one of the more popular and acclaimed alternative hip hop albums of the 1990s, known for socially conscious and politically charged content inspired by the teachings of the Nation of Gods and Earths.

Brand Nubian ahhh..What can i say they are like ghosts but made classic hip-hop, There first album "One for All" is lyrically strong but still is only an okay album. It quality doesn't pick up until around the middle of the album and then kinda goes downhill (I dunno Puba what happened?)in my opinion. But don't dougbt cause they establish a strong, memorable presence on the album "Foundation". I recommend this album if you want to experience smooth beats combined with super sold flows. If the albums called foundation shouldn't it have been their first one? mysteriocities......
that is because of the re-foundation - grand puba left the group after their debut. the song 'punks jump up to get beat down' was dedicated to the people who doubted brand nubian to be rockin without him...
Their first album One For All is a must have for any hip hop head.

peace, this is begod allah, i am not saying this b/c i am a 5%, but Brand Nubian is one of the best groups in hip hop history. they were bootlegged to death and being 5% and pro black they where not able to be promoted like the average group. grand puba is the change the way hip hoppers dress way more than JMJ. puba started baggy jeans, bright colorsm back packs, so so much. all their albums are classics.
Akili, Foundation was their first album together as a full group since One For All, and it's very different from it. It's the foundation of the new group.
Puba wasn't in "In God We Trust" and "Everything is Everything".
