Hey!!! they were from the bay area... note that Father Dome from Too $hort's Dangerous Crew feature in song called "treetop connection".

Some bay area groups in 91-93 period used to give shouts outs to Capital Tax: Pooh Man and others....

I'm sure what I'm saying. I had in a radio cassette now on mp3.

Thanks from Spain(Europe)

The group called Capital tax is a somewhat elusive album to search for. "The swoll package" delivers very straight forward funky east coast style. From the west coast or not these catz hold it down. The album is a little shaky on certain tracks but there are plenty of tracks to keep this boat from sinking. Not a must have but a keeper if you already have it, or run just across it.

I am born and raised in Oakland. So is Capital Tax. They came out in the early 90's but were heavily overshadowed by the Hiero craze. You must understand that at the time, the Bay Area as a whole, had yet to establish an identity. Although Too Short was God to all Bay Dwellers, his sound was pure East Oakland. Hiero were primarily from the Oakland Hills. The difference in public education between the 2 areas was like night and day. Add Digital , who were really the face of Berkely Hip Hop to the mix, and there just wasnt much room left for Capital Tax, a true hip hop collective whos sound was more Jersey than the Bay. This is a basic description of where they where from and why they were slept on. I will write more if anyone is really interested

I think you are confusing I.R.S. (Canadian) with this group, given that they both group names have to do with giving up you hard earned cheese to the gov't.

"Mista wonka" "Nottie natural" and "The Masha" are just awesome tracks
The mc had a very personal flow, with rough voice sound.

A MUST HAVE !

I read all the comments here,,,,,,,You know why they were slept on ? Cuz they werent that good. Man you guys need to listen to some real shit and then come back to this and you'll see, its not such a good album,,,,,its like wow big deal, another hip hop album,,,,Concerning the hiero craze, yeah it was much bigger than these guys, and rightly so,,,,bay area never had such good mc's apart from hiero,,,,come on, too short is dead wack, i got his albums, he can't rhyme that well, it's a boring rap style, and what he says aint very evolved,,,,,
