The Leader of the Council is Councillor Rodney Chambers, who is also:
- the Portfolio Holder for Democracy, Governance and Regeneration;
- Leader of the Conservative Group;
Rodney has vast experience of local government, having first been elected to Kent County Council in 1973. He also served on Gillingham Borough Council until the formation of Medway Council in 1998, since when he has continued to
represent Hempstead and Wigmore on Medway Council.
