Snowblowers offer winter help, but blades pose hazard

A Plainfield teen lost half of his index finger, and surgeons had to reconstruct the middle finger of his right hand when he tried to clear impacted snow from a snowblower, an injury a local ER doctor said is not uncommon. There are about 4,500 hand injuries related to snowblower use reported in the United States each year, he said.
