Ducks' Hiller stops 45 shots in win
What Jonas Hiller liked best about his second shutout of the season was the way his defense helped him out.

"If we play like that every single game, with guys out there blocking shots, we've got a good chance to win," the Anaheim goalie said Monday night after stopping 45 shots to lead the Ducks to a 3-0 victory over the Boston Bruins.

Ducks fail to take advantage of late penalties
Three goals came quickly for Eric Staal. Three penalties came even quicker down the stretch for the Carolina Hurricanes.

Carolina was seriously outnumbered for a while, but goalie Cam Ward was sharp enough to keep the Hurricanes' winning streak going.

Ducks fall to lowly Islanders
After a long string of losses, one win wasn't about to leave the New York Islanders giddy.

P.A. Parenteau, Blake Comeau and Matt Moulson scored in a 99-second span and New York won for only the second time in 22 games, beating the Anaheim Ducks 3-2 on Thursday night.

The Anaheim Ducks have extended Coach Randy Carlyle's contract through the 2011-12 season.

The Ducks on Tuesday also gave a one-year extension to David McNab, senior vice president of hockey operations.

Perry's penalty shot helps Ducks beat Wild
Corey Perry used his own stick to score each of his three goals, one of which came on a penalty shot. Ducks linemate Bobby Ryan had to improvise and use an opponent's stick to score his only goal.

Ducks top Flames in a shootout
For the third straight game, the Anaheim Ducks squandered a two-goal lead and had to decide things in a shootout. Luckily, they had Corey Perry waiting in the wings to provide the finishing touch to his 400th NHL regular-season game.

Bryzgalov, Coyotes shut out Ducks
Ilya Bryzgalov played a supporting role in Anaheim behind Jean-Sebastien Giguere for four full seasons, waiting for the chance to show he could be the main man -- for them or another club.

Now he's filling that role for the Phoenix Coyotes.

Red Wings' Howard shuts out Ducks again
There's something about playing the Anaheim Ducks that seems to bring out the best in Jimmy Howard and Johan Franzen.

Howard made a season-high 41 saves for his fifth NHL shutout and Franzen scored on Detroit's first shot of the game, leading the Red Wings to a 4-0 victory Friday night. The shutout was the second this season for Howard, including a 4-0 win over the Ducks on opening night at Detroit.

Enforcer is scorer in Ducks' 5-3 win
The Anaheim Ducks have always displayed a great deal of affection for their mustachioed enforcer, George Parros. They even persuaded the NHL to place his name on the Stanley Cup in 2007 despite the fact that he didn't play in the finals or appear in the required number of regular-season games.

Ducks shut out Kings
Although it's way too early for the Ducks to get excited about passing their Southern California rivals in the standings, Anaheim's leap over Los Angeles on Monday night is an apt illustration of what's happening at both exits in the Freeway Faceoff.

Alexander: Ducks' Hiller frustrates Kings
The stark black mask with the gold facial cage was meant as merely a fashion statement. Jonas Hiller was looking for something different from the designs normally painted on goalie masks.

But maybe it's a statement of another sort. Maybe the Ducks' game operations crew should be playing the Darth Vader music every time Hiller makes a big save.

Ryan's hat trick ends long skid
The bounces went Anaheim's way, finally, and the Ducks' six-game skid is over. So is Phoenix's seven-game winning streak.

Bobby Ryan had his second career hat trick to help the Ducks erase a two-goal deficit and beat the Coyotes 6-4 on Saturday night.
