First Zanessa, now this. 'Tis a sad day for Zap2it's favorite celebrity couples.

"Dexter" co-stars Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter have filed for divorce after two years of marriage, Entertainment Weekly reports. The couple released a joint statement to the magazine from their representatives: "Having been separated for some time, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have filed for divorce."

While both reps added that the split was amicable, "Access Hollywood," which first reported the separation, says Hall and Carpenter haven't been getting along on set all season and that's been widely known that an official announcement would be imminent.

A source says that Carpenter was talking about the couple's problems on set during production and adds that Hall, Carpenter and the rest of the cast and crew are worried about how they will continue to work together for the show's sixth season.

"Dexter's" Season 5 finale on Sunday (Dec. 12) drew 2.9 million viewers over two airings, bringing an end to the show's highest-rated season to date.

Sad.

Carpenter, you better learn where you sit in the pecking order quick. You don't cause trouble on the set for the actual star of the show. To you, Hall is your soon to be ex, but on the set he is the reason everyone around you, including yourself, have a job. You mess with Hall at work, and suddenly the sister is written out of scripts.

I get the feeling that Michael C Hall is not that nice of guy. First marriage lasted four years, second one only two.

Hollywood is in shambles.

@Jill: You can't necessarily make that kind of judgement...it is Hollywood after all and celebrity couples get divorced all the time.

:( My heart is broken...but my obsession with Dexter will not be affected. :) Marriage is tough. I can only imagine how much harder it would be in hollywood. With the exceptions of cheating or abuse, I don't think there is anything that can't be fixed. Personal opinions, of course.

Divorce is sad news, I am sorry for both of them. It seems Hollywood stimulates couples to split more often than is normal.

I hope they work past it where they can work together on the show. That relationship between dexter and deb is a very important part of the show. Debs scene at the end of the finale was amazing.

Love Dexter, it's the most amazing show ever. Hope that won't screw everything up on set, but i guess not they're professonals after all. As for the split itself, it's really sad news but they've been through a lot with michael's battle against cancer and all, i guess that was a «do or die» kind of situation for the couple, too sad they couldn't last.
