On his normal workdays work, Master-at-Arms 2nd Class Sherman Whidbee patrols the streets of Joint Base Charleston-Weapons Station, watching out for the safety of military members and their families. He also is one of the few members onboard Naval Support Activity that has deployed overseas.

Joint Base Charleston - Weapons Station, hosted a fire prevention fun day fair in recognition of national fire prevention week, Tuesday, Oct. 5. Lowcountry Charleston firefighters were joined by several surrounding area fire departments in an effort to increase the awareness of fire safety.

It was the first of its kind and it was a resounding success. The first ever Joint Base Charleston Commander's Cup was held Sept. 27 through Oct. 1. and 16 military teams from around the Lowcountry took part in the festivities.

Captain Ralph C. Ward will assume command of Naval Weapons Station Charleston, Sept 9, 2010.
His tenure will be short-lived though, as he will become the Deputy Commander, Joint Base Charleston (JB Charleston), Oct 1, 2010. In his capacity as Deputy Commander JB?Charleston, he will also serve as Commanding Officer of Naval Support Activity Charleston, which will stand up Oct 1.
