Wider access regional forums

To assist with the achievement of Learning for All, the SFC's strategy for widening access, we currently fund four wider access regional forums. These are based in the South East, Fife and Tayside, the West of Scotland and the North of Scotland. They are administered through a host institution; Napier University, Abertay university, University of the West of Scotland and Aberdeen University respectively.

Over the years the forums have supported programmes of activity focussed on:

  • awareness raising of further and higher education in schools;
  • community engagement; and
  • supporting community transitions.

This work was coordinated with the assistance of a National Coordinator through a wider access network, SWARF (Scottish Wider Access Regional Forums).

Selected SWARF resources are available here:

Further information on the work of the individual forums can be found at:

SFC is currently reviewing the activity of the forums and updates on progress can be found within the minutes of the Access & Inclusion Committee.

Specific updates will be posted on this page..
