Thanksgiving travelers caught some breaks as Delaware waived tolls on its turnpike, and a much-publicized protest over what opponents call invasive security measures at the nation's airports appeared to have fizzled. For the first time in at least 15 years, the Delaware Department of Transportation authorized that the tolls be waived for drivers heading northbound on Interstate 95 for almost eight hours Wednesday.

For heritage turkeys, it's fight or flight

As carnivore's answer to the heirloom tomato, heritage turkeys like Tom Cruise, a Standard Bronze, are said to taste better than the supermarket variety, pack more nutrition, and live healthier, more natural lives than industrially farmed Broad-Breasted Whites, which grow so chesty and fat that they can't mate and barely move. But because they're raised with claws and beaks intact — and they can fly — heritage turkeys are harder for farmers and butchers to handle.
