Today's Poll Question

POLL: Are layoffs at the shipyard reflective of larger economic issues?

Northrop Grumman shipyard announced the layoff of 381 white-collar workers today. Virginia Senator Mark Warner is speaking with Peninsula business leaders today. President Obama is involved in an international summit this week.

Does the shipyard layoff echo economic troubles we face as a region, a state and as a nation?

  • Absolutely. Funds available for military spending are shifting, going away. This was inevitable for the region.
  • Maybe. But problems with workmanship on recent contract jobs can't help.
