Initiative on Global Markets at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business

The massive global movements of capital, products and talent in the modern economy have generated confusion among policymakers and the public. The Initiative on Global Markets promotes better understanding of how these markets work, their effects, and the way they interact with policies and institutions.

The IGM supports original research by Chicago Booth faculty, prepares students to make good decisions in a rapidly changing environment, and exchanges ideas with policymakers and leading international companies about the biggest issues facing the global economy. The Initiative spans three broad areas:

  • International business
  • Financial markets
  • The role of policies and institutions

By enhancing understanding of globalization, the Initiative strives to help improve financial and economic decision-making around the world.

Among other contributions, the Initiative will help to bring private sector ideas into discussions within the IGC network, and to design reforms that empower the private sector in the world’s poorest countries.
