Today's Poll Question

POLL: Airport security: Are 'hands on' pat-downs and body scans too much? Not enough?

Recently an American Airlines passenger refused to submit to a body scan and was then informed that he would need to be 'patted down' as a part of routine security. His refusal to allow the security checks has gone viral with postings on his blog. His actions may have touched a consumer nerve; but, only a few weeks ago, mail bombs were found to be onboard cargo. Where's the limit on security checks? Did the passenger's assertion of his rights make sense?

  • Reality check. No one tried to assault the passenger. The security checks are in place because terrorists are trying to use airplanes to transport and use deadly materials.
  • Maybe too much. But since the passenger refused the scan, how else could security check him?
  • Too much. The barefoot romp through scanners, the search of luggage have stopped how many attacks? Sure didn't stop the transport of potentially lethal packages a few weeks back,
  • Don't know. I just won't use air travel anymore.
  • What's the big deal? I'd fly in my underwear if that's what it took to ensure safety from terrorists.
