The JISC invites tenders for the creation of a gateway for searching catalogues and images of Islamic Studies manuscripts.
The aim of the work is to create a tool for educational users to access collections of Islamic Studies manuscripts in the UK.
Total funding of up to £30,000 (including VAT, travel and subsistence) is available for this project.
The deadline for receipt of proposals in response to this call is 12:00 noon UK time on Friday 7 January 2011.
The successful bidder will be expected to start work by 1 March 2011 and work should be completed by the end of July 2011.
JISC invites Further Education institutions in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland (SWaNI) to submit funding proposals for projects to undertake work under a new round of its Learning and Teaching Innovation Grants Programme.
JISC wishes to fund projects of up to one year that fit with the vision, outcomes and principles of the JISC e-Learning programme and support innovative approaches to learning and teaching. This is an open call, and projects dealing with any aspect of e-learning are welcomed. To reduce the initial investment in time and resource needed to develop a traditional JISC proposal and to encourage speculative and innovative ideas from the community bidders are invited to submit initial outline proposals.
The outline proposals must be submitted via email using the template provided below. Word limits and content restrictions will be strictly enforced. Please read the guidance and template in full - bids outside of the required parameters will NOT be assessed.
Bids should be submitted to elearning-bids@jisc.ac.uk. Letters of support will not be required at this stage.
Funds of up to £50,000 for projects of up to one year duration are available. JISC has committed at least £500,000 to this call.
Proposals may be submitted by FE institutions funded via SFC, DCELLS Wales and DEL Northern Ireland only.
Proposals may be from single institutions or consortia. Partnership arrangements may be developed outside the sector (for example with research council sites, publishers, commercial suppliers), but the lead partner must meet the criteria outlined above. Funds can only be allocated through the lead partner.

Strand A - Enriching via Collaboration
Using collaboration to cluster, repackage and re-present existing digital content.
Total funding available £400,000. Up to 5 projects will be funded. Maximum funding for any one project is £100,000
Strand B - Developing Community Content
To develop new content and communities for educational and social purposes.
Total funding available £440,000. Up to 6 projects will be funded. Maximum funding for any one project is £100,000,

The JISC invites tenders to conduct a project to support the communication and relationship management parts of the implementation plan for the resource discovery taskforce vision.
The aims of the project is:

The deadline for proposals is 12 noon UK time on Friday 19 November 2010.
The successful bidder will be expected to start work on or around 3 January 2011 and the support project will run until the end of July 2011 when an assessment will be made for ongoing requirements.
JISC invites institutions to submit expressions of interest to field test the JISC Strategic ICT Toolkit and to report back experiences.
Funding of £100,000 is available to fund up to 10 field test projects at £10,000 each.
Submission of expressions of interest should be submitted by 12:00 noon UK time on 28 October 2010 and the JISC will notify successful bidders by 3 December 2010. All projects should start by 3 January 2011.
An online seminar will take place on Tuesday 12 October at 11.00 am for prospective bidders to this call. The seminar will focus on the rationale for the development of the toolkit and its applicability to institutions and is expected to last approximately 40 minutes.
