APP started its investment in Hainan Province in 1995. APP now has three subsidiaries in Hainan: the Jinhai Pulp & Paper Plant, the Jinhua Foresty Company and the Fu Meilin Company. In January 1997, APP started its joint venture Jinhua Forestry Company with the Hainan General Forestry Company. This company was created to meet the raw material demand of Hainan Jinhai Pulp & Paper Plant, whose annual capacity stood at 600,000 ton of pulp.
