07:46 AM ET 09.13 | After going for five catches for 59 yards, Randy Moss managed to find an outsized share of the spotlight by way of a reported 16 minutes on himself. While his teammates were celebrating their season-opening win over the Bengals in the locker room, Moss held court in the postgame news conference, claiming there were "a lot of people who don't want to see me do good." He also said he felt this would be his last year with the team. "This is the last year of my contract," Moss said. "Nothing has been discussed. There's not been anything said. Not a letter. Nothing. I'm not saying that I want to stay here, but I love playing here. If the future of my job lets me go to another team, then that's what it's going to be."

Tom Brady was in the same boat as Randy and he kept his mouth shut. Everyone can thank Revis for the contract whining before the contract is up.

Nice effort by your team, RSN... defense looked very good!

Randy's about to start being Randy...

They came out of the gates fast and shut down TO and Chad. It appears we have alot of offensive weapons this year. And Fred Taylor is running like a 3rd year back. No complaints here.

The real issue is that the CBA is still up in the air, along with next season. This comes down to The Commish not getting the job done. He's spent way too much time coming up with punishments for guys who violate his nebulous "code of conduct," while time fritters away and the owners and players are no closer to a settlement than they were a year ago.

Most guys have contracts which basically come down to no play, no pay. The owners, on the other hand, have a TV contract that pays them whether they field real teams or not, and they've got season-ticket money they can count on, too. So, some of the top players, and some not so good, are looking to get guarantees that they'll be payed even if there's a lockout.

The way the Pats looked yesterday, Randy Moss could have a pretty good year. That should help him get a contract he'll be happy with.

The way the Pats played yesterday they may part ways with Randy and show him the door.

The Pats might just get their first true taste of the Randy Moss experience.

September 13, 2010  08:19 AM ET

Randy is such a little BEEEECH.

Until someone else takes the job away from him, Randy Moss is still the Patriots' deep threat. Tate, on the other hand, looked pretty good, but he doesn't have the size of Moss and he hasn't proven himself over a long season yet.

I think Welker resolved any doubts about his knee.

Randy = Manny
Stop your whining and play

i thought nobody gets paid if there's a lock-out [??],..........aren't the players setting up a players-pool to help the low-paid players with a weekly-paycheck ?..........and any/all 2011 contract$ [if there's a lockout] would continue-on in 2012 too.

September 13, 2010  08:47 AM ET

brady will be in randy's corner when/if there's a contract-renewal .,........maybe myrna kraft will be swayed by tommy-boy .

That D will continue to get better but it's a good start going up against a good offense like that. So those geniuses at the networks who said the Pats wouldn't make the playoffs....WHAT?

I'm shocked that I'd say something that defends Randy -- but they are in 2 different boats. The Patriots aggressively signed Brady to an extension while Randy is still waiting for talks to being.

But Randy should still keep his mouth shut and play.

Randy...shut up.

As much as I dislike Randy Moss, I kinda agree with the dude. Heck he's the best receiver on the team and hasn't been a distraction the whole time he was there. At least let him know what's up. I bet you they drop the franchise tag on him in the offseason just to keep him there so that when the following year comes around he won't be as hot a commodity in the offseason. That's the business of the NFL and the Patriots are known for treating their players this way, just ask Seymour.
