Phoenix performs at Coachella on April 18. The French band will play a Lollapalooza after-show. (Chris Pizzello, AP)
As usual, Lollapalooza weekend will be bustling with club activity before and after the big outdoor shows Aug. 6-8.
Among the highlights announced Tuesday of the pre-show and after-show activity surrounding the lakefront festival:
Phoenix will be closing down the weekend at House of Blues on Aug. 8 – that’s not quite as awesome as last year’s Lolla nightcap, the debut of Them Crooked Vultures at Metro, but it’s a good opportunity to see these arena headliners at close range. House of Blues also grabbed another arena act,
MGMT, for its Aug. 6 slot. You also can’t go wrong with Devo at the Congress, the Big Pink at Lincoln Hall, the New Pornographers at Metro and Cymbals Eat Guitars at Schubas on Aug. 5, and
the Black Keys at Metro, Minus the Bear at Double Door, the National at House of Blues and Blitzen Trapper at Lincoln Hall on Aug. 7.
Here’s a complete list of Lolla-sponsored shows for those who just can’t get enough music at the festival, or want to avoid it altogether (tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday
HERE).
