Slides and Demo from Mapping/Geolocation talk at Flash and the City

May 14th, 2010 by ryanstewart

I gave a presentation on Mapping and Geolocation with the Flash Platform today at Flash and the City. Below I’ve embedded the slides and you can download the PDF here. When I get some downtime today I’ll be uploading my demos as well.

Hey there – awesome presentation, though I briefly skimmed through it (gulp, sorry). I’ve played with the google maps API and others… but I haven’t come across a simple API or open source code base for converting lat/long to mercator map x,y coords. Do you know of such a thing? I’ve tried algorithms I’ve found, but everything ends up 5-200 miles off location. Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks for the presentation Ryan, I just grabbed the pdf.
Google Maps is my favourite one but I’ll certainly have a look at the others, too.
