We have developed a series of guidelines and policies geared toward promoting a safe and positive experience for our users. For details on these policies, please review our Terms of Use and Editorial Guidelines.

21. How can I increase the number of users who view and click on my ad?

There are a number of ways to try and increase the number of users who view and subsequently click on your ad:

  1. You can increase the budget you have allocated for your campaign. This will enable your ad to receive more impressions and clicks.
  2. You can increase your bid amount to be more competitive against other advertisers that are vying for the same inventory.
  3. Try revising your ad to include a better visual design, ad caption and call-to-action language to entice a prospective customer to take immediate action.
  4. You can modify your targeting criteria to reach a broader audience and therefore attempt to capture a higher number of impressions and clicks. Sometimes, advertisers go too granular with all our available targeting options and end up inadvertently preventing their ad from being seen by potential customers who fall outside of their targets. By loosening your targeting criteria, you may reach a broader audience and capture more impressions and clicks.

Alternatively, if you're receiving an adequate number of impressions but too few clicks, you may try narrowing your targeting criteria to make your ad be seen only by users you feel are most likely to click, thereby trying to improve your overall click-thru-rate (CTR) and number of clicks.

Billing & Payment

39. How do I change my billing information?

You can change your credit card information in the Account Billing Information section under the Billing Menu. Click on Edit Billing and provide your account password. Enter your new billing information and click Update. Your billing information will be reconfirmed.

40. Why did I receive a charge for $25 on my credit card?

We place a one-time temporary authorization hold of $25 on any new credit card we receive in order to ensure that the card is valid. An authorization hold is not an actual charge. It is only a temporary reduction of your credit line while the hold remains in effect. An authorization hold may remain on your card for up to 30 days, but the actual time may vary depending upon the policy of the bank that issued your credit card. Once the credit card is validated, the temporary authorization charge is removed. If this charge remains on your card for an extended period of time, we recommend that you contact your bank to have it removed, as any delays in removing the charge are likely due to your bank. We will only charge you for the actual cost of your advertising activity.

41. When will MyAds bill my credit card?

With our postpay billing method, you pay only for the impressions or clicks your ad has actually received, so you are not billed in advance. MyAds will bill your credit card after 30 days, or when your account reaches your credit limit, whichever comes first. However, MyAds reserves the right to collect payment from Advertisers for any or all amounts that may be owed by an advertiser at any time in its sole discretion.

When you create a new account with us, we will set your initial credit limit at $25. Your credit limit is raised in increments each time your account balance hits your credit limit and you make a successful payment against your account. The initial credit limit of $25 is first raised to $50, then to $100, then to $250, then to $500, and then to the final amount of $1,000.

When the total cost of all your advertising activity reaches your credit limit or greater before 30 days have ended, we will bill you for the amount you have accrued. If your account balance remains below your credit limit during a 30-day period, then we will bill you when 30-days have passed. MyAds will begin a new billing cycle each time you reach your credit limit or after 30 days.

For example, if you sign up for MyAds on Nov. 1, MyAds will assign you an initial credit limit of $25. If you have not reached your credit limit within the first 30 days of sign up, you will be billed on Nov. 30 for whatever costs you have accrued during the first 30 days of your account. MyAds will begin a new billing cycle. If you reach your credit limit 10 days later, on Dec 10, then MyAds will charge you for the total charges that you have accrued at that time (which might be in slight excess of your credit limit), and immediately initiate a new billing cycle with a credit limit of $50.

42. What is the 'Credit Limit' on the Outstanding Balance page?

When you first open a MyAds account, we will extend you credit so that your ads can start running immediately. You will be billed within 30 days or when you reach your credit limit, whichever occurs first. When you reach your credit limit and successfully make a payment at that level, then we will increase your credit limit.

When you create a new account with us, we will set your initial credit limit at $25. Your credit limit is raised in increments each time your account costs hit your credit limit, and you successfully make a payment at that level. The initial credit limit of $25 is first raised to $50, then to $100, then to $250, then to $500, and then to the final amount of $1,000.

43. What are my payment options?

We currently only offer the postpay payment option, which allows you to pay only after you have accrued costs for your advertising activity. You will not be billed in advance of any advertising activity. You must always have a valid credit card on file in order to use MyAds.

"MySpace.com 310-969-7175" will appear on your credit card statement along with the amount billed.

45. How do I view my credit card charges?

You can view a summary of your credit charges under the Billing menu.

46. How do I increase my credit limit?

The credit limit for your account is predetermined by MyAds. MyAds will increase your credit limit automatically as you make a successful payment at each previous level.

47. Why was my credit card declined?

There are several common reasons why credit cards are declined, such as:

  • You have entered an invalid credit card number
  • You have entered an invalid card security code
  • You have entered an invalid expiration date or the date has passed
  • You have entered an invalid billing address. If the address listed in your MyAds account does not match the address associated with your credit card, we may be unable to process your charges.
  • You have exceeded your credit limit. Your credit card must have enough available credit to cover your advertising charges. If your credit card does not have enough credit, then you will need to lower your campaign budget or provide a new credit card with enough available credit.

We recommend that you contact your bank if you still cannot successfully submit your credit card information after reviewing the information provided above.

48. How secure is my payment information?

MyAds uses commercially reasonable efforts to keep your payment information secure. Billing information is checked against the account information by our third-party payment processor. If the information submitted is invalid, the payment information will not be accepted. Also, our third-party processor will verify and store all credit card information in an encrypted format.

49. When will my campaign start accruing costs?

Once your campaign is approved by the MyAds editorial team, and you have submitted accurate billing information, your ad may begin running across the Fox Audience Network and begin accruing costs almost immediately.

50. Why is there a charge to change my credit card?

MyAds will place a one-time temporary authorization hold of $25 on any new credit card it receives in order to ensure that the card is valid. An authorization hold is not an actual charge. It is only a temporary reduction of your credit line while the hold remains in effect. An authorization hold may remain on your card for up to 30 days, but the actual time may vary depending upon the policy of the bank that issued your credit card.

If MyAds has been unable to bill a previous credit card, and your account has an overdue balance, then MyAds will immediately attempt to charge your new credit card for the full amount of the unpaid balance. Advertising for your account will be suspended until you provide us with a valid credit card. Once we successfully process your payment, your ads will begin running again.

51. Can I keep more than one credit card on file?

No, you can only have one credit card on file associated with your account.

52. What credit cards does MyAds accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.

Campaigns

53. What are CPM and PPC? Should I choose the CPM or PPC plan?

CPM stands for cost per 1,000 impressions or ad views. Your bid represents what you are willing to pay for 1000 impressions. You will only pay for impressions served. Thus, if you enter a CPM bid of $2.00 and only 500 impressions are served, you will be billed $1.00.

PPC stands for price per click. Your bid represents how much you are willing to pay per click. You will only be charged when a user clicks on your ad. Thus if you enter a PPC bid of $0.50 and receive 10 clicks, you will be billed $5.00.

PPC advertising is usually selected when your main goal is to get people to visit your Web site. For example, if you're selling a product or you're looking for leads for services offered on your Web site, you would most likely choose pay per click.

CPM advertising is typically chosen when your main goal is to build brand awareness and get your product or services seen by people.

54. What targeting options do I have?

MyAds currently allows you to target your ads to users based on gender, age, education level, relationship status, parental status, interest and occupation; and geography. When you target your ads to geographic locations, you can choose from one of the following options:

It is important for you to note, however, that while your chosen targeting options may help to focus the audience of your ad as desired, MyAds cannot guarantee the accuracy of demographic, age, geographic, and other targeting data as it utilizes user provided information, which is not verified by MyAds and therefore, may not correspond with a user's actual information. In addition, with respect to geographic data, information cannot be accurately determined by such user provided information or a users' Internet Protocol address (which often does not correspond with a user's actual location). Please refer to our Terms of Use for further details.

Conversion tracking is a free service provided by MyAds which helps you better measure and understand the results of your ads on MyAds. Using this service is completely optional.

A conversion occurs when a click on your ad directly leads to an action which you deem valuable. These actions might include a purchase, a signup, a lead, or a page view. Example pages of where conversions might occur are: Thank you page for purchasing a T-shirt, Success page for signing up for a Newsletter, etc.

74. How does conversion tracking work?

If you choose to use Conversion Tracking you will copy and paste a code snippet provided by MyAds within the <body> </body> tags on your HTML page. Remember, this HTML page should be the page which signifies an action on your site. For example, a Thank You page for a user purchasing a Membership.

After a user clicks on an ad and then ends up on your landing page, a cookie is placed on the customer's computer and records that click. This cookie will remain on the customer's computer for 7 days. Within this 7 day period, if a customer completes an action (e.g., purchases a T-shirt or Membership), MyAds then reads the cookie and then records the conversion.

75. How do I set up conversion tracking?

In order to set up Conversion Tracking, you will need to place a snippet of code on your conversion confirmation pages.

Here's how to get this code and begin tracking conversions:

  1. conversion tracking is available for any MyAds advertiser at the following URL: https://advertise.myspace.com/conversionTracking.html
  2. you can also get to this page by clicking on the Conversion Tracking tab on the header

To get started, follow the MyAds Conversion Integration Guide.

76. Why do I have to specify the security level of your Web site?

If your conversion confirmation page is secure (the URL begins with https://), then you should choose the https:// security level option. This changes the security level of the JavaScript code snippet, and ensures that your customers won't see a security alert when they complete a conversion.

77. Why are my reports showing lower conversion numbers than I think I should be seeing?

Here are some reasons for a possible discrepancy:

  • User-disabled cookies - We don't report conversions for users who disable cookies.
  • 7-day tracking period - MyAds conversion tracking only reports conversions that occur within 7 days of a MyAds click. If a customer converts after the 7 days have passed, we do not report that conversion. Please note that when viewing conversions for a specified time period, conversions are assigned to the date on which the ad click occurs, not the date on which the conversion occurs.
78. How many conversions can I track?

MyAds provides the code for one conversion pixel per Advertiser. This pixel code should then be placed only on the conversion pages of your website. Please note that conversion pages should be something like a Thank You page for a purchase, sign-up, page visit, etc.

After placing the conversion code on your page(s), and then after users actually convert on your product, you will begin to see basic conversion statistics throughout the reports in MyAds.

79. How do I check the conversion code on my site?

You can follow the checklist given below to confirm that you've pasted the conversion code accurately.

  1. View the page source and make sure that you see the conversion code on the page (marked with a !-- MyAds Code Snippet for Conversion Page --> comment tag). To do this, select View > Source in your browser menu.
  2. Make sure that you've pasted the conversion code between the body tags (between <body> and </body>).
  3. Make sure that the conversion code has not been modified. If you are unsure, you can generate the conversion code again from your account, and insert it on your conversion page
80. How are conversions measured?

A conversion is reported when your customer completes the specified action on a page which includes the MyAds conversion code, which you pasted on your web page from MyAds.

MyAds is able to attribute conversions down to a campaign level. Thus, you might be able to determine that Campaign A is leading to 5x the amount of signups for a Membership vs. Campaign B.

81. Will conversion tracking slow down my Web pages?

Conversion tracking will not have an impact on how fast your web pages load. The JavaScript snippet communicates with our conversion tracking server so quickly that site visitors shouldn't notice any change in page loading performance.

82. Where should I insert the conversion tracking code snippet?

First, choose a page that users reach when an action you consider to be desirable has been completed. For example, this might be the 'Thank you for your purchase/download/subscription' page, which a user reaches after they've finished a transaction. This is the conversion page, where you should place the conversion tracking code snippet.

The code should be placed between the <body> and </body> tags, in a valid HTML location. It should not be between the < and > of any other tag.

Below is an example:

                    <head>
                    <title>Thank You for Shopping</title>
                    <head><body>
                    <b>Thanks for shopping with the Best Company Ever. We look forward to helping you in the future.</b>
                    <!-- MyAds Code Snippet for Conversion Page -->
                    <script language='javascript'>
                    var rnd=10000000000*Math.random();
                    document.write("<img src='https://conv.opt.fimserve.com/conv/100100/?rnd="+rnd+"' width=1 height=1 border=0>
                    </script>
                    <noscript>
                    <img src='https://conv.opt.fimserve.com/conv/100100/?' width=1 height=1 border=0>
                    </noscript>
                    </body>

For more details, follow the MyAds Conversion Integration Guide.

83. Where can I find my conversion metrics?

After you implement the code snippet on your site, you can locate conversion data on any campaign or summary report within MyAds.

84. How much does conversion tracking cost?

MyAds' conversion tracking feature is completely free. To get started, all you need is a valid MyAds account and at least one approved campaign.

85. How many Conversion Pixels can I have?

MyAds provides the code for one conversion pixel per Advertiser. This snippet of code can be placed on one or many conversion pages on your site.

MyAds provides the ability to associate conversions to actual campaigns.

86. Can I stop conversion tracking?

Yes. You can stop conversion tracking by removing the MyAds code snippet from your conversion page. Once you remove the code, you will eventually notice that your conversion counts in your reports will no longer continue.

Remarketing

87. What is remarketing?

Remarketing is the best way to reconnect to previous visitors that have already demonstrated interest in your offer by visiting your site. Advertising to these visitors again will increase the probability of a completed transaction.

Remarketing allows you to set up campaigns and target those campaigns only to users who have previously visited your site. You can increase conversions by promoting more aggressively, cross and up sell products, and build and retain consumer interest. Using this service is completely optional.

88. How do I get started?

You will need to do two things:

  1. Place a remarketing pixel on a page on your website. When a visitor visits this page, they will encounter the remarketing pixel.
  2. Create a campaign on MyAds and target it to the remarketing pixel. The visitor who encountered the remarketing pixel has the opportunity to see your remarketing campaign.

Please reference the MyAds Remarketing Integration Guide for integration details.

89. Can I see how many people have encountered the remarketing pixel on my site?

At this time MyAds does not report the number of people who have encountered the remarketing pixel on your website. This count can be found as unique visitors from your website analytics.

90. Why is my remarketing campaign receiving less impressions/clicks?

Remarketing campaigns generally receive less impressions/clicks because only visitors who have encountered the remarketing pixel will see the campaigns. Campaigns not using remarketing are served to a larger audience.

91. How many remarketing pixels can I put on my site or page?

It is recommended that you place only one remarketing pixel per page. You may however place different remarketing pixels on different pages. Just remember, if the page receives a small number of traffic, your remarketing campaign will serve to a smaller number of visitors.

92. Can I target a campaign to more than one remarketing pixel?

Yes, you may target your remarketing campaign to multiple remarketing pixels.

93. Can I place a conversion pixel and a remarketing pixel on the same page?

No, please do not place a conversion pixel and a remarketing pixel on the same page.
