Security forces Airmen attempted to stop the individual; however, he evaded pursuit and proceeded to one of the base gates. At the gate, he was engaged by law enforcement officials and was shot. I think guns should be allowed because it's our 2nd amendment right. I believe open carry should be legalized country wide and people should excercise their rights and carry. People who openly carry aren't going to be messed with and only crooks and thugs conceal their weapons. Surveys taken by criminals show they avoided victims who were armed. Quit being scared and defend your constitution

The article does not state he had a firearm. Local news is reporting he had a knife. You have every right to be concerned; however, it appears the only individuals with firearms were the Security Forces.

We have travelled to this Family Camp many times in the previous years. I thought it was unlawful to carry a firearm on base, even to the Family Camp unless approved by the SP Office. This concerns us with future safety as we always thought all bases were the safest place to camp, bar none. Hopefully this is a one-time incident that will never repeat. I would rather they search my 5th wheel then have doubts of who has a gun. Only takes one person to ruin the area.
