  1. 1512: "The man who once told the Liberals to 'go back to their constituencies and prepare for government' says Nick Clegg is going for gold in this election," reports BBC Scotland's Raymond Buchanan. "Lord David Steel was speaking while campaigning in the Borders. He also said the Lib Dems would 'very probably' be part of the next government. 'Obviously it's a very outside chance that we would be the lead party but certainly it's for sure that we are going to be very much in there with a large number of MPs and very probably part of the next government,' Lord Steel said."
