At Hillsborough.

Sunday's relegation showdown at an emotional and tense Hillsborough showed us so much of what is great about football and, regrettably, a little of what is not.

Sheffield Wednesday needed to win to climb out of the Championship's bottom three and send opponents Crystal Palace down instead.

If it wasn't quite a straight shoot-out then it wasn't far off, and one group of supporters was always going to greet the final whistle with the kicked-in-the-stomach sensation that comes when you look up from your newly-relegated players slumping to the turf to see the opposition fans celebrating their team's survival in the stand opposite.

It might evoke images of a bad-tempered Blakey, or even a youthful and sun-kissed Cliff Richard, but I'm optimistic that a double decker bus will help the BBC tell the story of the forthcoming World Cup in South Africa.

I will be onboard the bus alongside other television, radio and online journalists, whose brief will be to find out what the tournament means to ordinary South Africans and visiting fans alike.

Previously used to cover events such as the 2005 general election, the bus has a mobile television studio on the top deck, which will allow us to broadcast into highlights programmes and at half-time during live games from a variety of interesting and unusual locations.

Sunday might prove to be decisive in determining the destination of the Premier League title but for sheer drama the game of the day is unquestionably the relegation shoot-out in the Championship between Sheffield Wednesday and Crystal Palace.

Wednesday occupy the third and final relegation slot in English football's second tier and need to defeat Palace at a sold-out Hillsborough to guarantee their survival.

Relegation would be an unpleasant step in the wrong direction for the Owls and their chairman Lee Strafford, who took over at the club he has supported since childhood on 7 January, 2009, but the club would survive.

For Palace, the future is far less certain - regardless of whether they win, lose or draw.
