TripOut Gay Travel:
Las Vegas

Gay Friendly Rating: Gay Friendly Rating Very welcoming; this place is gay-tastic!
Gay Friendly Rating: There's more to sexy Sin City than gambling...

Las Vegas Fast Facts:

  • Gayborhood The hometown of Liberace, "Showgirls" and sequins, Vegas ethos of excess has plenty to woo gay visitors. The scene is spread out, but between Bette, Elton, Celine and all the showboys, you'll have no trouble getting your gay on.
  • Ooh La La! Not. Don't take a picture of yourself in front of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Casino and post it as a pic on your online profile. You're not fooling anyone and people will think you're tacky.
  • No Line Dancing. Checkout lines at the major hotels can be brutally long. Try to avoid them at all costs. Check out from your room.
  • Hack. Cough. Clean Air Act? Not in Vegas, sweetheart, smoking is allowed in parts of every casino so save your cashmere for another trip.
  • "Taxi???" You can't hail cabs on the street in Vegas. You must go to one of the taxi lines at a casino. (If you're a die-hard New Yorker and think taxi lines are for wimps, don't be surprised if you get picked up by a John or the cops as you try and hail a cab at a street corner.)
  • Lift. Ouch. Hotels usually charge about $20 to use their gym.
  • Jackpot! Las Vegas was nominated for a 2009 TripOut Gay Travel Award for "Sexiest Place on Earth" and the "Wynn Las Vegas" resort was nominated for Best Luxury Hotel & Resort. Congrats! Check out other nominees, too!
  • The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is a member of the IGLTA, the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association, which supports and promotes LGBT travel around the world.
