It's no secret that both "Iron Man" and "Iron Man 2" relied heavily on improv from their cast of talented actors, but did you know that going the ad-lib route can mean some very cool, fan-friendly bonuses?

Take, for example, the sheer amount of extra footage created by "Iron Man 2" improvisation. According to director Jon Favreau, it amounts to around 30 minutes of alternate scenes and extra footage — all of which will likely be included on the "Iron Man 2" DVD.

"I think it's about a half an hour of that stuff," Favreau told MTV News. "You change things... There's a lot of latitude in post-production on this kind of movie."

FROM MTV MOVIES: One of them flies around the world, is greeted by roaring applause everywhere he goes and works a red carpet like nobody's business. Ladies love him, men want to be like him and many call him a hero. The other one is Tony Stark.

On Monday night, Robert Downey Jr. continued to blur the line between real life and fiction, arriving at the premiere of "Iron Man 2" in one of his character's many cars. Like Stark in the film, Downey was greeted by scantily clad dancing girls, rapturous applause and reporters with questions. So, where does Downey end and Stark begin?

"Tony Stark is the movie star of superheroes, for sure," co-star Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts) insisted. "He's slightly debauched, handsome, funny."

Iron Man 2If you've ever wanted to attract envious tweets in the Twitter Report feed, getting into the premiere of "Iron Man 2" and letting everyone know about your access is a good start. Brian Michael Bendis offered his post-screening thoughts on the film last night, which he attended with Ed Brubaker. The rest of comics Twitterverse mostly shook their fists with jealously.

A few creators tweets about non-"Iron Man 2" topics as well in the last 24 hours, too. Among those were Brian Wood, who pointed out his satisfaction with royalties he receives from "DMZ" and "Northlanders" volumes printed in other languages, and Philip Tan, who continues to be on fire with the artwork samples he's been posting. Check out his Colossus and Tony Moore's thoughts on drawing Daken below.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - RileyEarlier this month, we brought you news of a very sexy issue of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season Eight," but that doesn't mean the story's over when it comes to Buffy and the Slayers' climactic battle against Twilight and his armies.

Celebrated "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Battlestar Galactica" television writer Jane Espenson returns to the Dark Horse Comics series later this year for a new one-shot comic exploring what happened to Riley Finn, Buffy's former love interest who spied on Twilight for the Slayers.

The issue, which arrives on shelves August 18, will be written by Espenson with interior art and a cover by Karl Moline. Dark Horse has provided Splash Page readers with an exclusive first look at the cover to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season Eight — Riley One-Shot," as well as the official synopsis for the issue. While the debut of War Machine in "Iron Man 2" has received a lot of attention in the run-up to the film's premiere, Scarlett Johansson's bow as Russian superspy Black Widow is turning heads, too — and not just because of her skin-tight uniform.

Along with her deep history in the Marvel Universe, Black Widow's had more than a passing affiliation with The Avengers, and teamed up with everyone from Iron Man to Daredevil at one point or another. When MTV News caught up with Johansson at the "Iron Man 2" press junket, she offered up some thoughts on suiting up as the superspy and whether we'll see her do it again when "The Avengers" arrives in theaters.

"These movies are really fan-driven, and going into this film I was hoping that the fans and the audience would like my interpretation of the character enough to carry the story along," said Johansson. Read more...

Green LanternLast month, rumors emerged that a new animated "Green Lantern" movie was in the works that would be a potential prequel to "Green Lantern: First Flight." However, according to Warner Brothers Animation writer/producer Bruce Timm, plans for a second "Green Lantern" animated film were canceled.

"We had originally planned to do sequels for 'Wonder Woman' and 'Green Lantern,'" revealed Timm during an interview with Think McFly Think. "With 'Green Lantern,' it didn’t perform nearly as well as what they had hoped it would."

"In the long run, it eventually made its money back, but the sales weren’t there right away during its release." he added. "Hopefully with the release of the live-action film next year, that will open up the doors for more 'Green Lantern' related material." Read more...

Last Days of American CrimeWay back in February 2009, we gave you the first, exclusive peek at Rick Remender's "The Last Days of American Crime," a gritty, noir-tinged heist story that hit shelves from Radical Publishing. Little did we know the story would soon end up in the hands of "Avatar" and "Clash of the Titans" star Sam Worthington, only to be optioned by the actor and his producing partner, Michael Schwarz, in November.

The series follows a dangerous sociopath named Kevin Cash (Worthington) as he assembles a team to pull off what could be the last great heist in American history. With the impending launch of a government-sponsored technology that will make it impossible for anyone to commit a crime just days away, Cash and his crew attempt to steal the machines that manage the nation's new form of currency.

The second issue of "American Crime" hits shelves this week, so we caught up with the writer to find out what's in store for the series, how he feels about Worthington coming on board, and the screenplay he's been working on for the film. Read more...

Nick FuryAs comic book fans anxiously await the return of Tony Stark in next week's "Iron Man 2," there's another popular hero readying for a big screen comeback next week as well — none other than S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury.

In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, director Jon Favreau spoke about Fury's elevated role in "Iron Man 2" following Samuel L. Jackson's cameo appearance at the end of the first "Iron Man." While that scene was initially intended as a tribute to the character's comic book resemblance to Jackson, the role has clearly expanded in light of the actor's nine-picture deal with Marvel Studios.

"The idea was just to do this tag, and we thought it would be really fun to get Sam since the comics version of Fury is based on him," said the director. "Now it's become much more than that." Read more...

The BoysEarlier this year, Samuel Bayer — the director of the upcoming "A Nightmare on Elm Street" remake — expressed his desire to bring Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's "The Boys" to the big screen. However, according to Bayer, a surprising name has emerged as a potential frontrunner for the project.

“It’s so funny, I would die to do ['The Boys']," Bayer told Film School Rejects. "From what I’ve heard from the producers on the movie is that Adam McKay is doing it. He did 'Anchorman,' I guess. The studio is really hot on him.”

Bayer also indicated that he may still be in the running to direct "The Boys," if "A Nightmare on Elm Street" does well at the box office. “Let’s have the movie come out this weekend and do really well," said Bayer. "Then we’ll see how my stock is in Hollywood.” Read more...
